Meet Our Psychiatrist

Dr. Mehr Karamat is a board certified general adult psychiatrist who is also perinatal mental health certified (PMH-C). She was born and raised in California and trained in the Midwest at the Hennepin-Regions Psychiatry training program in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota. Since she graduated from residency in 2015, she has practiced in both states and has served as a faculty member at psychiatry residency programs at both her training institution, Hennepin County Medical Center in Minnesota as well as at UCLA-Kern Medical Center in California before venturing out into private practice with a special focus on women’s mental health.

She has expanded on her interest in women’s mental health that started by focused training and rotations during residency by completing the Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International.

She has also completed the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Training Program (PPTP) through the Minnesota Psychoanalytic Society and Institute (MPSI) and she uses this training and knowledge in her approach to both evaluation and treatment. She loves working with women in the pre-pregnancy, pregnancy, and post-partum stages of their lives. She loves to help women plan their journeys by providing them with the information and tools they need to make informed decisions about treatment during these important and exciting stages of their lives.
